Environmental values at work. murakami/Nelson has been recognized by the Alameda County Green Business Program as a certified Bay Area Green Business. We have achieved exceptional conservation of resources and pollution prevention as well as exceeding environmental compliance requirements.
June 2010 - The Lake Merritt Municipal Boathouse received LEED Gold certification.
The Lake Merritt Municipal Boathouse received LEED Gold certification. murakami/Nelson designed the adaptive re-use of this historic John Galen Howard former salt water pumping plant to meet historic City of Oakland sustainability guidelines. This is the first LEED Gold certified city owned building in Oakland. Through careful planning, we were able to incorporate enough sustainable features to achieve LEED Gold certification.
June 2010 - John Nelson named Chair of the Oakland Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce
John S. Nelson, President of Murakami/Nelson was officially named Chair of the Oakland Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce at their annual meeting on June 23, 2010. Mr. Nelson will be promoting economic development in Oakland during his tenure as chair.
