BARROWS HALL

Berkeley, CA
Barrows Hall at the University of California, Berkeley, is one of the busiest buildings on campus. This building has eight floors of academic spaces shared by thirteen different departments. The rehabilitation and seismic strengthening of Barrows Hall includes thick steel-reinforced concrete walls which bookend the East and West ends of the building and collector beams that tie these two masses together. This exterior strengthening solution allowed continuous occupancy of the building during construction.
