murakami/Nelson planned and designed 43 detached residences at three separate, formerly undeveloped sites on the steeply sloping hills of Orinda, California. All of the homes at The Glade, Watchwood and Village Views, are situated for maximum privacy and to take advantage of the splendid natural contours of picturesque vistas. A critical factor in the design was to blend the home sites with the natural contours of the surroundings and to retain the rural environment. With this in mind, we designed the homes to have a natural wood exteriors with shingled roofs and siding, and the landscaped yards feature exposed aggregate walkways and mature trees and shrubbery. Attesting to the attractiveness of the homes is the fact that most of them were sold during construction.
