Barrows Hall Seismic Safety Corrections Project Honored with 2003 AIA Merit Award for Renovation

December 2003 - The firm's design of seismic safety corrections to Barrows Hall at the University of California at Berkeley, was recently honored with a 2003 AIA Merit Award for Renovation. The jury lauded the design for dramatically improving the seismic safety and appearance of this formerly drab building and the creation of architectural identity at the existing and newly created entry points.

The project had previously been honored with a Consulting Engineers and Land Surveyors of California (CELSOC) 2003 Engineering Excellence Honor Award, as well as a American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) 2003 Engineering Excellence Competition National Recognition Award, both of which awards we shared with our structural consultant, Degenkolb Engineers.
