Marina and Shoreline Park
City of Emeryville
Emeryville, California

murakami/Nelson was retained by the City of Emeryville to develop its extended waterfront. This process involved creating a master plan of the entire Powell Street Peninsula, guiding the City through the application process with governmental agencies, designing site improvements, and providing contract documents. Noteworthy improvements include a landscaped walkway system, a new boat launching facility, the upgrade of three existing buildings, new restroom facilities, a new 750 foot-long fishing pier, and 100 new berths for the existing marina.

The project was planned to both minimize environmental impacts and increase public access to the waterfront, and vastly improved the aesthetic quality of the site. The Emeryville Marina Peninsula Park was honored by the Waterfront Center - a Washington D.C. non-profit corporation dedicated to helping communities enhance their urban waterfronts. The project was also featured in Waterfronts: Cities Reclaim Their Edge.
