Building Lobby murakami/Nelson was retained by CAC Real Estate Management Co., Inc., to select and coordinate furnishings for the street level lobby servicing office spaces at 1945 Broadway in Oakland. The furnishings were carefully chosen to complement the contemporary cherry wood paneling as well as the perforated stainless steel floating panels that line the corridor. A large cherry desk was selected to match the curved wall to which it sits at an angle, creating a reception area which offsets the sleek white and black corridor accented by stainless steel and art work. The wood paneling and furnishings invite the visitor through the corridor, which leads to a flexible seating area outside the elevators. Black leather contemporary chairs complement the stone floor and base of the corridor and the patterned carpet that delineates the seating area. Yet the flare of the chair design and the curved legs and round tops of the accent tables soften the rectangular space comprised of more cherry paneling, high black stone base and stainless steel details. From the entrance to the elevator access, the visitor passes through a stylish environment, which opens onto comfortable seating while awaiting appointments. |
